We're having so much fun talking about the labels, why not drink the wines?

Great plan! Focus on the wines AND the labels, for that matter.

Plus, I know I have a semi-blind spot when it comes to Riesling (and most other high-aromatic wines), and I'm always ready for a good opportunity to try to recalibrate.

My recent Riesling purchases have been 2009 and 2010 vintage. Are the 2010s going to be too acidic to enjoy now? I look forward to trying some German Riesling next month.

Salil, I'll be attending the BYOB Rouge Tomate dinner. Unfortunately, I can't afford Eleven Madison Park. David Schildknecht would like for me to come to his seminar on Saturday. I, however, don't want to take up seats from others who would like to attend. If I do go, I'll stand in the back. Otherwise, I plan to do the Riesling crawl, or at least the tasting events at Crush and Chambers Street Wines. As you probably know, I'll be pouring Hofgut Falkenstein on Friday. It should be fun, as a couple of growers will be in the crowd to taste and there will be some suprise back-vintage bottles from a special guest. In addition, John Ritchie has saved one of the sold-out 2011 Spätburgunders for tasting.

And I have some Weissburgunder from the Pfalz waiting to be opened.

(Of course I'd be willing to wager that 95% of the posts would still be about riesling).

Well, I'll look forward to catching up over a few glasses at Rouge Tomate, and/or seeing you at the crawl.

Depending on my Friday schedule and when the EMP dinner starts, I'll see if I can briefly drop by CSW for the tasting.

I hope that I will be allowed to post on some Alsatian Riesling. After all Alsace was part of Germany for brief period in my lifetime from 1940 to 1944

, as well as earlier from 1871 to 1918, and a Germanic dialect is still extant there.

I would agree with that, but I know I'm going to be careful how I phrase this. Memories of two wars and maybe three or four go back a long way. :cry:

Well we've always been open about "close cousins" in Wine Focus, so feel free to go for it, but the focus is really on Germany.
