WTN: 2009 Domaine du Vissoux Fleurie Les Garants

by Diane (Long Island) » Fri Jan 18, 2013 4:03 pm

With our easy rustic dinner of pasta with sauteed kale, red onion and pancetta, I wanted an easy rustic wine. This one fit the bill. A tight coil of cherries and grapey Gamay. The best part was the finish when the juiciness of the fruit lingers and mixes with violets, minerality and acidity, with notes of animal that come into play. I'd put my glass down and quickly lift it again. Delicious.

Loved that wine. We drank our last bottle about three months ago, and I was very very sorry it was my last. I need to buy more Beaujolais!

Thanks for the note. Sounds good. Some folks have found certain 09 Beaujolais to be in tough spots right now, but I suppose it all depends on taste and cuvee.

And I only had a few of these on release and didn't save any.

I think I followed your recipe for the pasta and kale!

A very timely and useful note, thanks Diane. I just had a disappointing experience with a 2009 Lapierre Morgon last night that showed surprisingly hard and closed. Was wondering whether to ignore the bottle of 09 Vissoux Poncie I have downstairs, but I think after this I'll give it a try in the next few weeks. (My Garants bottles are buried off site.)
