Stopped by Tim's to taste a couple blind bottles.
- 1998 Nurihannam Wines (Nuriootpa High School) Shiraz Class - Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Tasted blind. Lots of dark fruit...blueberries, blackberries and cherry. Had a nice spicy element to the palate that I thought placed it in the Southern Rhone. The tannin, and alcohol were still significant (for me). (76 pts.) - 2011 Domaine de la Pépière (Marc Ollivier) Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie Vieilles Vignes Clos des Briords - France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine
Great wine. Fresh citrus tones meld seamlessly with seashells and salty notes. Always a winner. (91 pts.) - 2002 Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon
Lots of tilled soil, mushroom, green pepper and red fruits on the nose. The palate was cool, energetic and silky. Great red fruit, nice earthy notes with lots of crushed stones. Great stuff as usual. (92 pts.) - 2011 Domaine des Lambrays La Rose Du Clos Rosé - France, Burgundy
One of the finer roses I've had. Nose of rose petals, some truffle, and cool strawberry fruit. The palate was really nice. Sleek, refined and elegant...this rivals Tempier and Baudry for the finest Rose from France. (92 pts.)
