I am hoping to make it to the LA one this year as well! BTW - got an early bird special in the mail today. Use EARLYBIRD30 for $30 off tickets through Friday. I know its early but its one of the best wine events of the year and $30 off is pretty much the best discount I have seen, so likely worth buying now if you intend to go.

We attended the West Coast event last year and had a wonderful time. Can't decide whether to spring for LA or NYC this year (Chicago is in-between). Any advice?

I have never been to the WC event (this will be my first year) but it seems like the NYC one has many more wines and winemakers while the WC event is more intimate with better food. Raccah has been to both and will likely have a more informed view on this.

Bill come on be a real roadie and go to all THREE!!! Like Yossie has said, the LA event is more about the food and less about the wines. Year after year, the LA event is minus many of the great Israeli and Spanish brands and vintages. This year, I hear from many of the Royal wineries that they will 100% be at both - time will tell! The food at the NY events is fine, but it is more about the restaurants doing advertisement, rather than Todd showing off. Trust me - you want Todd showing off!!! So, if you are a hard core foodie - LA, if you are a hard core Wino - NYC, if you are in between - choose NYC, but get in before the crowds and get in for the wine industry start time. The only real con to the NY event is the crowd at the non-industry event time.

OK - no midwest - my mistake. Last year, a few wineries made a dinner in between the dates for their own interest, not a Royal event - again my bad. From what I hear, there are many new wines. Many that I have tasted through in Israel, and are just part of the new crop of vintages. According to Gary L, there are a bunch of new and interesting wines coming to this event.

Last year, I REALLY felt the main difference was the fact that the wines were not rehashes, but new vintages, some good, some bad, and some great! Seeing the new vintages already filling up Gotham and Skyview's website - tells me the very vintages that are new and cool in Israel are here now or will be here soon.

Along with all that Gary is promising some cool fun wines - so look like it will be fun!

I must say that the LA events were a treat, and last year's especially so because I was able to finally meet the Colemans, who had been part of my life for years. And also because my son Gedalia David was able to pour, and so was able to meet people who could be in a position to find him a shidduch within the rich and powerful Herzog clan (grin- wouldn't that be a hoot) or advance his career in marketing or management (note to self- find a way to have him hobnob with the Ghermazians- I hear the skiing is great in Edmonton).

One aspect I am especially interested in, is whether (similar to what happened last year), many of the wines that showed so nicely/promisingly when tasted in Israel are markedly different (i.e. worse) when tasted on our shores...

iyh i'll be there.. my flight to israel is feb 6, if i can change i'll hit the west coast and try to survive hard drinking over a 3 day period lol
