Jon,
The whites are through the door and in the glass relatively quickly. We drink lots of Chardonnay (Macon Village), Riesling (Trimbach) and Muscadet. I buy it in 2-3 bottle quantities and we drink it before buying more. For some reason we rarely drink cheaper (<$25 reds) - I don't know why.
The whites we do cellar are limited to burgs, Champagnes, Sauternes and some Tokai. The reds in the cellar run the gamut from Tahbilk to Oregon Pinot. We are very unfocused collectors.
It does strike me as odd that I prefer red wine but I consume much more white wine. Maybe some wine therapy is in order.
