Absolutely delicious! I need to keep the last bottle (of 3) for several years. Tasty on opening, smoother and deeper after an hour, and even better half an hour after that. I think it's so good because nothing stands out, but everything is right.
Sometimes expensive isn't.
Calif., Russian River Valley, Joseph Swan, Trenton Estate Vineyard, Estate Bottled Pinot Noir 2005; 14.3% alcohol
I paid $46.80 at the winery in 8/08

As much as I love the wines of Steve Edmunds, I think that Rod Berglund might be the most unheralded winemaker of great wines in California. His Pinots range from good to phenomenal and his Syrahs and Zins are nothing to sneeze at, either. Good to hear that your bottle was doing so well, John.

I have a couple bottles of this remaining. When I tried this last year, there was a bit of VA that made for a somewhat disappointing showing.

I have had Swan wines from the 70s that were stunning!
Cheers, Jim
