I was given a choice of Ben Ami Merlot or Alfasi Cabernet. Went with the Ben Ami 2009 Merlot. I can't see how this is identifiable as merlot per se, but a reasonable quaffer to wash down a spicy salmon. Definitely preferable to the Jeneusse Cabernet I had the last time.
All in all it was a wonderful dinner with friends regardless of the wine. In fact, I think I enjoyed the Ben Ami more than I might have because of the company.

I had a bottle of the 2009 Har Bracha Cabernet Sauvignon - enjoyable - but just missing the QPR:
