2010 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Le Domaine (France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon)
Bright, taut, red fruited and with a bit of a tobacco leaf edge on the finish. This is refreshing Cabernet Franc. Great value.

Sounds awesome. I should buy this more often - I usually end up missing it or buying too little, given how inexpensive (and generally awesome) other bottlings like Grezeaux are. But Baudry can't seem to do any wrong at any price point.

Is 2010 a good Loire vintage? I fished a few '10 Bourgeils out of a remainder bin the other day figuring I couldn't lose at $12. It's a familiar wine I usually see at around $20ish, with a really long name that starts with 'Ch' and ends in 'erie'. I'm sure you know which I mean.

2010 was a cooler, less ripe year than 2009 in the Loire, but to my tastes made more zippy, stylish wines. The Chenins from '10 are wonderful and all the early signs are that the Cab Francs will be great in a more herbaceous, leaner style.

Honestly, with the Baudry, Gonon, the Texier I recently posted on and ESJ R&G, I really wonder why I ever spend more than $35 for a bottle of red wine.

That's the one. It's usually a softer/easier style than what I prefer in Loire Cab Franc, but at the price it was a no brainer.
