Indeed saw it in Chicago and had it - it is OK - a nice example of a light Barbera, nothing explosive or exciting, a B+ wine at the best.

Tasted once at the Jerusalem Wine festival last July:

GMW, Barbera 2010: Dark garnet towards ruby, good concentration with notes of wet dirt and redcurrants, medium-bodied with on the palate strawberries and redcurrants along with notes of cigar tobacco and near sweet tannins in good balance with sufficient acidity leading to a moderately long finish.

Nothing like the Ramot Naftali but not bad either for the price.

I tasted to 2008 Galil Mountain Barbera and wrote about it on my blog. Here's the link: http://wp.me/p1Dfhj-8W They describe their version of this varietal as "softer" compared to other Barbera's. They called it the "Zionist Barbera."

Looking forward to opening it again for a re-tasting, after this year of aging in our wine cellar. Also looking forward to tasting the more recent vintage so eloquently described by Gabe.

Galil Mountains Barbera 2010: 87-88.

Tasted at its release, late last July:

Fruity, spicy, wide, slightly low on acidity, a lot of fruit and a generous touch of roasted oak. Soft, tasty and with character. A Barbera character with an Israeli style. Worth a try, chill it a bit before serving.

Chicago is a Sep situation. They Have different timing because they order their own Containers.
