Went along to the early bird tasting at Magill estate this morning. Very pleasantly suprised at the quality of this Grange from such a difficult vintage.

Dark crimson. Nose tight and unyielding but eventually giving up some redcurrent and cherry. On the palate a lovely fruit sweetness, muscular and balanced with good acidity wound around a stiff backbone of gun barrel tannins.
Cheers

Heard that Grange prices in NZ were going up to over $NZ700 per bottle, and 707 to $NZ250 odd. No more high end Penfolds wines for me!
Cheers,
Neil Courtney

'Tis a shame, Neil. Meanwhile, I suggest that you console yourself with the marvelous '09 Syrah from Esk Valley which, to my tastes, will give every bit as much pleasure as Grange. :D

Yes, Esk Valley makes some very good wines.
