The question: How is "Capcanes" pronounced? Capkanes? Capsanes? Capchanes? Captsanes? Only those who truly know, please; as you can see I can make enough guesses myself.

That's easy. If that's the way it's spelled, it's kopkones. with the o not quite as round as the o in pop, but more like the ou in thought, and the e almost pronounced like a long a. That's if it's orthodox Spanish. But if it uses a cedilla, it would be prounounced kopsanes.

Gary:

So there is a cedilla? That would be interesting, because it is typically not found in Spanish, although it is found in French and Portuguese. But old Spanish used to have a cedilla. For those not in the know, the cedilla is the "appendix" hanging from the bottom of a "C", like in facade, that makes it a soft rather than hard c when followed by a, o or u, vowels which normally require the c to exhibit a hard, K sound.

I never knew that that is what it was called but it certainly does contain one of those. It is on their logo & every bottle...

Yes, it does have a cedilla, but I couldn't type it in. Am familiar with this symbol in other languages, but don't recall ever seeing it in Spanish, which is why I asked.

thanks to all who replied.
