POLL: Oatmeal cookies with or without raisins?

Postby Jeff B » Thu Apr 12, 2012 3:14 am

As a companion poll to the nuts in chocolate chip cookies, feel free to share your thoughts on raisins in oatmeal cookies.

This one is definitely a no for me. More so than nuts in chocolate chip cookies, which I can enjoy either way.

Raisins in cookies are poison! They remind me of dead flies! :P

What's more, one of life's little disappointments is to see a plate full of "chocolate chip" cookies only to discover on first bite that what I thought were chips were actually dead flies. Er, raisins.

While I appreciate the flavor of raisins, I do not like the texture, especially in a good cookie. When I was 4 or 5, my sister (7 years my senior) told me they were bugs and that has stayed with me.

Horrendous. Ruins both the cookies and the raisins.

Agree with everyone so far. Raisins...Ugh! They also ruin a carrot cake and many a muffin!

Love 'em.

A former brother-in-law, however, called them Satan's Seed.

Voted "Other". I'm not a big fan of raisins, but there are some things I rather like them in. Raisin Bran, for instance, is a favorite of mine. When it comes to oatmeal cookies, I can take them or leave them, though.

What the hell? This is a wine forum! Oatmeal cookies without raisins? That's like chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips. Call 'em Oatmeal Beerenauslese cookies if it makes you feel better, but get a grip!

Sorry, I'll pass on the raisins.

In puddings, yes. In fruit cake, yes. In biscuits - no thanks.
