Just in case there are still readers here who don't worry about kashrut...

MARGALIT winery will hold their annual tastings and direct sales on three consecutive weekends in March, 16-17/3, 23-24/3, and 30-31/3, between 10:00-16:00. Wines on offer will be Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Enigma and Special Reserve, all from the 2010 vintage. For further details, prices and instructions on how to find them, e-mail Asaf Margalit at asaf@margalit-winery.com

CLOS DE GAT has invited winery club members to a tasting and launch of their Chanson 2011 wines on Friday 16/3, between 9:30-15:00. If weather is bad the event will be postponed to the following weekend. For further details and to request an invitation, e-mail closdegat@closdegat.com

I know some might not agree but I wish that one day, all the quality wineries in Israel will become kosher so we may all enjoy their wines!

what does that phrase mean, your information would have been just as meaningful without it.

just as "in case you live in Israel" is supurflous.

Have a good week

Another release event from one of the best (non-kosher) Israeli boutique wineries - Sea Horse Winery will release their Antoine and Elul wines from the 2009 vintage at a tasting and sales at the winery accompanied by music from the Chamber Music Trio, on Friday 16'th March and on Saturday 24'th March. Well, continuing this monologue regarding upcoming release events from non-K quality boutique wineries - Pelter will feature Shiraz 2009 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 from their T-selection series, as well as other Pelter wines, at a launch event on Moshav Tzofit on Saturday March 24'th. Yes, that is why I only provided e-mail contact info' for all the above. I do believe however that all four wineries mentioned above will be glad to add any truly interested person to their mailing lists and to welcome them at these launch and tasting events, with no pressure to buy.

As to other comments above, I made a vow to myself not to respond on any posts raising issues connected to kashrut, apart from noting that this is a thread on non-kosher wineries.

David, I know that in the cases of Margalit and Clos de Gat, it is more a question of ideology if you may say that.

You also forgot to name Trio that has become kosher as well.

Best,

David Rhodes wrote:BTW Gabe since you're now a professional and not just an enthusiast many Orthodox rabbis do allow their congregants to taste non-kosher wines as part of their job so ask yours for permission (or switch Rabbis), mine allows me and Margalit wine is amazing

 Well, I'm not a critic and neither a journalist so I'd rather not seek special treatment, I wouldn't also feel it would be honest on my part as I'm selling only kosher products at my shop. But I know that Craig Winchell, our fellow forumite, winemaker at Agua Dulce in SoCal and former proprietor/winemaker at GAN EDEN in NoCal, has such a heter from his rav. I've no doubt though that all the wineries you mentioned above produce outstanding wines and despite all what was said regarding the reasons they are not going kosher and have no intention to do so in the future, and would even rather shutting down for some, I'm not losing hope as people can always change their mind, you never know...
