Hello Guys,
Carmel is a large establishment and with that comes the obvious potential for people to voice their opinions. This forum will only succeed with open opinions, whether or not I agree with them, which is how it should be.
I emailed Adam like Yossie did, but I did not post the response until I heard from him about his sentiments of this thread. There have been a few folks here who within their rights have voiced some opinions about the motives, and to that I state good for them. That said, Adam and Rogov were best of friends and as such, he asked the wife for permission and even was willing to share the purse. Her response was no need, and that the bottle would be honor enough for her late husband.
Whether we agree on the motives or not, have one's image placed on a bottle as a memorial by a large company like Carmel is fitting tribute to a man who put his life and soul into this business. As a large company they will need to field the questions on their motives, and that is fine. The Carmel company owes nothing to anyone other than to the Family estate who's name will be on the bottle, and to that the response was thank you for the honor, but we need no more than that.
I think in his honor we can allow ourselves to say - Thanks to Carmel for putting themselves out there and placing an image of the man that helped them and many other institutions become what they are, knowing all that well, that if the spirit was a failure, it would be a large slap in the face.
I understand perfectly well, that it can be viewed as taking advantage of the person, or a shill to sell more swill, but knowing the folks involved, why not lay the swords down and simply state - thanks and may Daniel rest in peace, and may the family find solace from their lose.
Best wishes as always,
David
