Hot Dogs - Dangerous to the Health?

On a site with a clear pro-vegetarian leaning, an article suggesting that hot dogs will kill us.

My opinion - as might be said in Russian: bullshitsky

These food terrorists will never properly enjoy a baseball game. Their loss.

About 60 years ago I sat at the counter of a drugstore (there were such things then) in Cleveland, and asked for a hot dog. The girl behind the counter asked "Y'all want reg'lar or kosher?" I innocently asked "What's the difference?" And the answer was "The kosher one has garlic and costs a nickel more." Not wanting to appear a cheapskate I opted of course for the kosher one. But I like them both, and still do.

Package of six Hebrew National plump hot dogs on hand right now. Those will be for an early dinner, perhaps a bit perverse because I will first deep fry them, then finish on the grill, slice in half lengthwise and place on baguette-style rolls, those topped with fried onions and whatever various sauces appeal to us at the moment.

What can I say - Hebrew National makes truly fine hot dogs.

You want to hear something funny? I cooked hot dogs at a friend's house in Canada today. She bought the dogs, so it was a brand I'd never seen before. A store brand, nothing fancy: but guess what. Each dog inside was individually sheathed in it's own clear plastic shrink-wrap tube. A real "what in the heck???" to me. Perhaps for microwavers?
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Grilled about 200 hot dogs yesterday. Nobody died, as matter of fact everybody seemed to enjoy it. Don't believe everything you read.
