Susan & I tried this weekend:
1. Bastianich Friulano "Adriatico" DOC: Colli Orientali del Friuli (13%; www.AdriaticoWine.com) 2009: Med.gold color; some earthy/mineral slight nutty/hazelnuts/oxidized slight fruity/appley/perfumed slight old Rhonish some complex nose; fairly tart bit tangy/metallic slight oxidized/hazelnutty light apple/pear/fruity slight bitter/tannic some complex flavor; med.long tangy/metallic slight oxidized/bitter light appley/fruity/pear complex finish; seems to be a lo-cal orange wine w/ some skin contact; much more interesting than the rather simple '08 version. $17.00
2. Santorini Assyrtiko AoOoHQ (13%) 2008: Med.dark gold color; quite stoney/earthy/minerally light peach/apple blossom slight anise rather interesting nose; very lean/tart/austere very stoney/mineral/slate very light peach/apple blossom some tangy/metallic/grapefruity flavor; long tangy/lemony/grapefruity/metallic rather stoney/mineral austere finish; a pleasant lean/tangy/metallic wine much like a Ligurian Vermentino. $23.00
3. DryCreekVnyd Petite Zin Rose of Zin SonomaCnty (13.9%) 2010: Light rose/cranberry color; lovely very fragrant juicy/cranberry/strawberry/spicy/cinammon nose; soft dry very juicy/strawberry/cranberry/raspberry/spicy lovely flavor; long soft very juicy/cranberry/strawberry/spicy finish; would like a bit more acidity but a very pretty rose w/ loads of juicy character. $18.00

We liked the Batianich a lot, too. Don't recall any oxidative notes, though it's orange potential could point in that direction.

Very nice taste of nuts and fruits. Weimer's Chardonnay is one of my favorites these days and I was surprised how much this tasted like it.
