What Do You Put On Your Hot Dogs?

We may or may not have done a poll on this a while ago but an article sent by my most faithful correspondent inspires a new survey. Read the article first if you like and then tell us what you most like to put on your own hot dogs. If different condiments for different places or different circumstances, feel free to list your multiple options.

And, if you don't like hot dogs, don't hesitate to jump in as well. I promise...we will forgive you.

Next week or thereabouts: What do you put on your French fries (or, as we sometimes barbaric Israelis call them "chips")? But let's hold on that one for a separate poll.

Mustard. Just mustard. And I'm rather repulsed by the idea of anything else!

I just put Dijon mustard on mine, but Bev puts almost anything on hers. Usually she puts mustard and sourkrout, but her favorite is chile.

Almost always mustard - usually deli mustard, sometimes Coleman's, on rare occasions dijon mustard.

I like to have sauerkraut on the hot dog too, but that doesn't happen as often.

For me it varies depending largely on the setting:

In a good deli, on my first hot dog nothing but mustard. Not regular mustard and certainly not Dijon mustard but the special Deli Mustard that is offered. On the second hot dog (invariable) mustard and sauerkraut.

In New York City at a Sabrett or other street cart - the works – first mustard, on that a bit of mayonnaise, on that chili sauce and on that as many hot fried and then sautéed onions that will fit on the roll. And sometimes, when I get to the middle of the dog and the toppings are gone to ask for second helpings.

At most Israeli places – mustard, chili sauce and mayonnaise and, if available a chunky hot-pepper sauce. At Shaul Evron's Yo'ezer Wine Bar in Jaffa and at Hess in Jerusalem, mustard only.

In Atlanta and in New Orleans at street carts, mustard and fried onions (lots and lots of fried onions)

In Quebec city hot mustard, mayonnaise and chili sauce.

Throughout France – depending on how the sauerkraut smells, either just mustard or mustard topped with sauerkraut.

Oh yes - years ago when I took my daughter to a baseball game (a double-header no less), hot dogs with lots and lots of mustard and sauerkraut.

In those place, wherever in the world, they offer chile, first a dab of mustard and that piled high with the chile.

Usually onions and deli style mustard, unless I want a Coney. Then it is chili, onion and just maybe a tad of cheese.

I'm probably very "pedestrian" when it comes to hot dog stylings. I just enjoy old-fashioned yellow mustard and maybe some diced onions. The less "fancy" the better for hot dogs, in my humble opinion.

As a matter of fact, I'll be the first to throw myself into open ridicule (don't ask me why I volunteer to do such things) and admit I've even put ketchup on a hot dog! I just really like those three "ballpark classics" when it comes to condiments.

A basic hot dog for me will be topped with Heinz ketchup, French's yellow mustard, and relish. A dog in Chicago is loaded with everything except hot peppers.

around here we do 'coney dogs' - chili, chopped onion and mustard. personally i prefer a good forte mustard and the onion.

In a Jewish Deli - Dr Brown's Cel Ray Tonic or if not available (forgive me lord, Coke)
At Nathan's in Coney Island - draught beer
At street-side stands in the USA - No beverage
At kiosks in France and Germany- whatever beer is being offered at the kiosk, straight from the bottle
At brasseries in France - draught beer
At home - depends on which beer most beckons at the moment
