Take these notes with the usual grain or two or NaCl as I didn't have time or inclination to analyze.

2004 Ridge Lytton Springs
Mostly Zinfandel with a good dose of petite Sirah thrown into the mix...probably other stuff as well. Very dark and brooding at this stage. The fruit is very much in the background with the tannins and oak firmly in control. The oak became even more pronounced after an hour or so. Definitely needs a few years in the cellar, but I'm not smart enough to know what this will evolve into.

2004 Boschendal Sauvignon Blanc
I was very much looking forward to trying my first So. African SB but what a bummer. Hopelessly CORKED!!

2005 Ferrari Carano Fume Blanc
Pleasantly clean and crisp if somewhat simple. Very popular with the crowd. Decent enough, but not enough complexity to hold my interest beyond the first couple of sips. Seems my "Sauvignon Blanc Palate" is firmly planted in the Loire, at least for now.
