There should be a previous TN on this fine Rhone here in archives somewhere. There was some discussion about the varietal %s?
70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 20% Carignan. 14% alc, good natural cork, opened 30 mins but not decanted.Nick Thompson has quite a following, Cairanne based producer.
Color. Dull ruby, medium intense center. Not the best rainbow of colors. No sediment noted.
Nose. Aromatic, dark berry fruits. Distinct plum and raspberry as it opens. Pepper and blackcurrant on day 2.
Palate. Initial entry-good tannins/puckery/hint of sweetness? Very good fruit balance, acceptable acidity. Blackberry and plum flavors, thyme, earthy (local clay/chalk). Nice wine but the Seguret I posted on earlier was a bigger wine. Some pepper on day 2, softened up a little. Nice for $18 Cdn.
