I suppose even I am allowed a bit of self-promotion. Had lunch with my publisher yesterday and received the first copies, literally directly from the binder of my new book. The book will be available in Israel from 1 August and in the USA from 1 September. I will post later with precise details for those who wish to order. In the meantime, should anyone (alas in Israel only) want super-quick delivery, the book can be ordered directly from the publisher by phoning 02 633 0530. I understand that from 1 August delivery will be made within 24 hours from the time the order is placed.

The secret is quite simple. All people in the world, save for myself, have 24 hours in each day. I have made a special arrangement by which I have 30 hours daily. ............Well,at least sometimes it feels that way.

I apologize if this was raised in an earlier post. Of course, I love your new book (like all of the others). Last night I was reading about the Four Gates Winery in California and realized that, unlike your most excellent Guide to Israeli Wines... series, the new book does not include a short description of the winery being reviewed. I really enjoy that aspect and would like to ask you to consider including that in a future edition/revision.

And speaking of Four Gates, I called them yesterday about ordering a case of wine and had a very nice discussion with the owner, Benyamin Cantz. What a treat it was for me, a lowly cellar rat, to speak with the man who singlehandedly produces wines that have received such high marks from you. He was genuinely interested in my likes/dislikes, favorite wines and wineries, etc.

I told him that it was through your book that I first heard of his winery and he was pleased to hear that, mentioning that I was the first person to contact him as a result of that book.

I am very excited and anxious to try these wines and asked him if he minded me calling back to share my opinion of them. He said absolutely yes; he wants to hear all comments - good and bad. (He reads this forum so I hope he won't mind my sharing this with the forum).

Rogov, thank you very much again for teaching me so much about wines. This has become such a fun hobby for my wife and I and we appreciate being able to communicate with you, as well as the other more experienced wine mavens, in this excellent forum.

First of all, thanks for the kinds words. Much appreciated.

Your mention of the kosher book made me smile because just today I was discussing the future format with Adam Montifiore who has, by the way, agreed to write the foreward to the next edition. One of the things we talked about and agreed upon was that there would be a brief introductory comment about each winery producing kosher wines.

Also, simply for information, next year's book will contain somewhere over 1000 tasting notes as compared to the 500 this year.

And we are also in agreement that Benyamin Cantz is a charming man who is producing some very nice wines indeed.
