WTN: Etna Bianco 2007

Postby Bruce Hayes » Wed Jul 01, 2009 10:03 am

Murgo
DOC Sicily

A blend of Caricante (70 per cent) and Catarratto.

Bright yellow in the glass.

Smoky, salty on the nose.

Medium weight, nicely tangy, lemon, grapefruit, peppery, a bitter streak, slightly viscous, salty, tingly on the tongue, tart and refreshing.

Bitter lemon, peppery, salty on the finish.

A refreshing wine for a hot evening.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

Bruce, I was very impressed by a white Etna at a tasting about 18 months ago. Good choice to start the month. A rapid survey of my cellar shows me low of off-beat whites; I need to go out and buy some Mediterranean whites.

Good start Bruce..way to go. Happy Canada Day!! Yeah.

Tim, look forward to your upcoming new buys!! No wine buying probation this month eh. Do you have to smuggle wine into the house?
