WTN - 2004 Jackson Estate Sauvignon Blanc

by John S » Tue Aug 15, 2006 3:45 pm

Hazy notes from last night. Classic NZ Marlborough SB grassy notes on the nose, but mainly tropical fruit flavours (pineapple, mango, apricots and lime) on the palate. Still nice cut and acidity in the wine, very ripe and bold for a SB yet still refreshing and crisp (B+/A-). A great summer sipper wine!

This has also been one of my favorites also. It always seem to have a nice balance and weight to it.

Carlo, I was a little worried this would be 'past it' too, but it still had some life left. But I certainly would want to drink the 2004s up fairly quickly.

BC always seems to have lots of old NZ SB vintages on the shelves. They still have some from 2001, for goodness' sake! But they are mainly 2005s on the shelves now, although I've yet to see the 2005 from Jackson Estate or Saint Clair, among others.
