Following are my tasting notes for the wines in question.
Alate, Navara, 2003: Made entirely from Tempranillo grapes, ruby in color, medium-bodied, with soft tannins and showing simple but appealing red berry and currant fruits on a lightly spicy background.
A pleasant entry-level wine. Drink now-2008. Score 84. K (Tasted 16 Jan 2006)
Recanati, Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve, 2005: Aged in oak for 18 months but reflecting the wood gently and with grace. Dark, almost inky-garnet, intense but with subtlety and finesse. Soft tannins, a gentle hand with the toasty oak and generous red currant, black cherry and berry fruits, those with appealing hints of mocha. A long and firmly tannic finish. Drink now–2011. Score 90. K
