Galil Mountain - Barbera - 2006

We read quite a lot about this wine over the web lately, and so
I expected the opportunity to try it.

Today in a tasting of Golan Heights & Galil Mountain wines, I finaly had my chance.

This wine is heavily dominated by tannins both on the nose and the palate.
A tease of mixed blackberry and wood along side the tannins. you remain with a strong aftertaste from this one.
I truly believe this wine is not yet mature enough, and needs to further evolve.
I would be happy to try it again in 1-2 years from now.

Bottle now on hand and to be inserted into my blind tastings within the next few days together with a selection of the 2006 wines of Barbera d'Alba, Barbera d'Asti, and even one from Amador County, California. I shall report back...

I tasted this tonight and didn't find it tannic at all. Very refined and perfect to drink now. I certainly wouldn't leave it for 1-2 years before drinking!

I do agree that the wine I tasted is different then the wine Mr. Rogov and yourself describe.
I will buy another bottle and do another tasting in my home.

either my palate went nuts or the bottle opened in the tasting was a bit off.
hopefully it's the second one.

when I have tasted the wine I'll report back.
