WTN: Mezzomondo Negroamaro Salento 2003

From Puglia.

One of my "go to" wines. Always dependable, always good (in an everyday drinking kind of way), always available (here in Ontario at least) and always cheap at $7.95 Canadian.

Lovely dark red-purple in the glass.

Rich cherry fruit and light chocolate on the nose.

Cherry fruit, some spiciness, soft and rich mouthfeel, moderate acidity, some distracting bitterness. Rather short finish.

Not as complex or as rich as previous vintage, although still not bad, especially for the price. Perhaps this is, yet another, case of the curse of 2003. I noticed the other day that the 2004s are on the shelves in Ontario so I will have to restock.
