For some reason, the local grocery stores (all of them) have quit selling chicken breasts w/ skin still on. I guess I'll have to go the whole chicken route and cut my own. Its just kind of inconvenient...and yet another common food item falls to the health police.

Well, at least you can get foie gras in Chicago again. Lose some, win some.

Did I miss something? (Likely.) Last I heard, foie gras was still verboten in Chicago. However, a lot of restaurants were ignoring the ban and others were exploiting loopholes in the law. And the Board of Health, who is supposed to enforce the law, states they have more important things to do.

So what is the current status of this law?

There was a recent article in the NH Union Leader that the WM folks just hauled away. I googled it and found that I was wrong and you were right; chefs are just finding ways to get around it or are outright flagrantly ignoring it: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/artic ... n_chicago/
