Does anyone have any food related Christmas gift suggestions that do not include Rachel Ray's photo somewhere on the packaging? Her image seems to be plastered on all consumables and most cookware. Please help! :D

She was here in Philly today for a book signing at Rittenhouse Square. Philadelphians from all over came to see her and was plastered all over the news. I'm embarrassed...!

Alas, yet another unfulfilled Christmas for me. I searched the Emeril site high and low could not locate the Emeril jock strap anywhere!

My wife just got a Rachel Ray diaphragm. Insert obligatory target joke here.

Check out the pastry bag. It's dual-use.

I'm trying to stay approved for General Audiences so I'll refrain from writing what immediately came to mind as a response or posting the following here, but in view of the above suggestion I feel duty-bound to insert this link and am certain it will enhance your experience: (TV-MA) Go here!

WOW! That is some diaphagm she's got there

As to the original post, try Le Creuset, Tree Spirit ( very nice wooden bowls, etc.) or just shop local. I can't remember where you live (if your profile even states that info) but search around for local artists who might make food related items. Good luck.

Looks like the kind of diaphragm the mother of the Dionne quintuplets might have used.

I am constantly impressed with my ability to effortlessly drag any conversation straight to the gutter.

Some of us teeter at the top of the gutter precipice on a fairly constant basis. The slightest nudge will usually do the trick.

Well, it's better than wasting time talking about Rachel Ray, whose success gives credence to HL Mencken's observation that "no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

Bob R will soon let me know if HL actually said that... ;)

Ithought that was Mark Twain, or was it Abraham Lincoln or WC Fields?

Or maybe it was Yogi Berra--he said everything...

Actually, it was HL and this is the quote: No one in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people.

Just who the hell IS this Rachel Ray person, anyway? I don't watch television. Am I supposed to know who she is? Aside from looking pretty in a vacant, bimboesque way, is she supposed to be some sort of food authority?

She and a few mediocre recipes were plastered all over the last box of Ritz crackers that I bought.

OK, Paul, I'm going to go ahead and post this link but with a warning. If you've really not seen Rachel Ray before, this might be a bit much to start with. Keep your mouse on the "pause" button and be ready to stop the video at any moment. I'm not responsible for any ill effects that may befall you.

Here we go:

Ye gods. The anti-Julia Child.

I take it I'm supposed to know who Jessica Simpson is, too?

I downloaded that video clip over a 50Kbps dial-up connection. Most entertaining. The first time through, the video stopped every few seconds. I got to see lots of amazing facial expressions that I'm sure the show's producer never intended anyone to see for more than a microsecond. The expression on the face of the gal in the pink dress when she took her first bite of the dish was almost worth sitting through the rest of this insipid bit of tripe.

Despite this, I'll still buy Ritz crackers.
