I'm thinking maybe a soft red, garnacha maybe? Or not - with the horseradish?

For me smoked salmon canapes with atouch of horseradish is a pretty standard pairing with Champagne

I'm with Dale. First thing that came to my mind with this was an off-dry prosecco.

Duh. Thanks both. Have a bottle of Spanish cava. Into the fridge it goes.
Annoying pedant alert

Sorry for the snark.
For what it's worth, I opened the thread with interest because we were going to have smoked salmon (no horseradish of any kind however) for dinner tonight and I had been planning to serve it with a white Burgundy (Pernand-Vergelesses).
But, our dinner plans changed so it doesn't matter any more as there is no salmon on the agenda and the wine will be a Northern Rhone syrah.

No harm, no foul. I was thinking exactly what you said as I posted.
The horseradish is what threw me off and I completely overlooked bubbly.
Cheers!

Fred - For future reference Vinho Verde would also work well with smoked salmon and spicy sauce.
