What is your favourite food, normally eaten hot, that you like to eat the next day as left overs and like cold rather than reheated?

Mine would be pizza and Chinese food.

No question: cold pizza, cold steak and cold spareribs.

Yeah, cold steak with some Dijon mixed into some mayo, or cold steak sandwiches are darned good.

Fish can also be just as good cold - chilled salmon with a nice dill, tarragon or sorrel sauce the next day is great.

No no NO. Unwrap steak. Slice. Sprinkle with Maldon salt. Eat it where you slice it. Don't go muck it up with goop.

I should have mentioned meat loaf. I am also quite fond of cold savory bread puddings.

Or sandwichy. Repurposing the cold item in that way almost negates its "eaten cold" status in my mind since roast beef is a standard sandwich.

I agree. But eating cold, with or without accompaniments would be 'eaten cold'.

There are a few soups that are intended to be hot but turn out to be delightful cold as well. Did a curried chicken and tasted it cold and it was great - but that would only happen in foods without high fat levels as cold curdled fat is not very appealing (never look at oxtail stew, which is impossible to completely skim, when it is cold, for instance)

Pizza, stuffed cabbage rolls, meat loaf, oven fried chicked that was coated with "Oven Fry", and probably more that I cannot recall. I am not adverse to cold foods, so these are the first that come to mind.

Au contraire, I just made a Beef and Barley Soup using oxtails, and put it in the fridge overnight. The next day the fat was congealed on top and I took a grapefruit spoon and worked around the nooks and crannies to remove the fat. Took me about ten minutes. I have learned that sometimes an overnight chill does not cut it. I usually have to leave it for a part of the next day to make sure the fat is hard enough to remove in chunks. Sure, there may be a bit here and there, but compared to what I remove, it is nothing.

Lasagna. Especially the one with sausage, red pepper and porcini bechamel.

Very true. In fact, remember that spicy chilled peanut soup I served on the patio for that Southern-themed meal? It was not meant to be a chilled soup. But I'd made it the day before and liked it so much when I retasted the cold soup the next day, and it was such a warm day, that on the fly I decided to serve it cold. It was delightful.

I'd eat that. Or any cold spaghetti/pasta in a red sauce, but neither would get me going the way opening the fridge and suddenly remembering that there's cold steak, meatloaf or ribs to snack on does!

Coffee. Strong, dark roast, over lots of ice on a hot summer day.

If it's not going in a sandwich, then it would be pizza and roast chicken. If it is going in a sandwich, then cold roast beef and meat loaf would be on the list.

And yeah, iced coffee is awfully good.

I was reminded of another cold favorite: leftover corn on the cob. Straight out of the fridge, unseasoned.

Meatloaf is definitely among my favorites. Today's lunch was a chunk of leftover meatloaf with a slice of cheese in a pita. Yes, I 'repurposed' it, but it was cold and good and just what I wanted,
