Sunday mid afternoon menu ideas needed

This is somewhat off the beaten path but I am doing some long range planning now for the Sunday before Christmas. It will be a 30-45 minute musical event with food and drink. If you were going to such an event - starting at 2 pm - would you prefer savory or sweet or both? I personally like a good coffee and a small, rich pastry in the Viennese cafe tradition but husband is pushing for champagne and caviar and small savory bites. The former allows a much later supper like we usually have . The later, a lead up to an earlier one. It's an awkward time of year and time of day and not quite sure how to proceed. Your thoughts appreciated.

Hm. I think sweets at that hour tend to leave me hungry sooner. On the other hand, a somewhat more substantial savory -- a mushroom tart, sandwiches on croissants, pissaladiere, etc. -- keep me sated much longer.

Thanks Jeff. Rethinking the timing . The invite will be for 2 and the music at 3 so probably will do the champagne and small finger food before the music and items like you mentioned after as it will be closer to 4-5 pm.
