"Gradual Vegetarianism"

Postby Daniel Rogov » Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:10 pm

An article in today's online English language version of HaAretz about a movement to cut back on 15% of the meat we eat - another step towards saving the planet. Let it be known loudly and clearly that I too see a definite place in my life for vegetables and grains - and that place is alongisde my steak, roast, chops or cutlets. True, I do not eat meat on a daily basis, but that by chance and never because I am concerned that giving up my next Porterhouse or T-bone steak is going to save either the planet or anyone on it.

See the piece at http://www.haaretz.com/culture/food-win ... n-1.307452 As always, comments are welcome.

That sums up my feelings pretty well, too.

During the first half of the 20th century, mankind began weaning itself off age-old racist perceptions (toward Jews and blacks, for example )

Nice the way the author equates eating meat with Nazis and the Klan. I happen to think anyone who uses charges of racism to shut down debate or otherwise suppress dissent is racist.
