Granite cutting surfaces

Rogov,

I just had granite counters put in my kitchen, and as they had a little leftover granite from the slab, they gave me a matching "granite cutting board." Am I right in thinking that using that for a cutting board would be very hard on my knives?

Simply stated - yup!!!! Granite is lovely but it makes one of the worst cutting "boards" possible to find unless you use entirely serated knives.

Depending on how big it is, it might make a nice slab for kneading pastry ... or a good cheese platter?
