Well, I didn’t get to see Daniel Oren conducting Nabucco at Masada last week, but like Rick Stein I am an Italian opera fan. Who could not be mesmerized by a performance of Tosca with Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna, or La Boheme at The Met with Zeferelli sets? Heaven and beyond

A delicious article. I too am a devotee of Italian opera and have even been known to smuggle a bit of smoked sausage, a chunk of Parma ham, a few slices of cheese, una fetta de pane imburratoand and a bottle of fine Brunello di Montalcino, into my box at the opera houses in Milano, Venezio and Roma. I have also been told (but of course will not admit to knowing on a first-hand basis) that attaining orgasm during the Dio di Giuda aria of Vedi's Nabucco is close to the very best one can have.
