Last night at dinner...

2004 Donnhoff Schlossbockelheimer Felsenberg Riesling Spatlese
This wine is elegant, even by Donnhoff's exalted standards. Peach, red fruit, spicy minerality, and a precise balance. This is not a spatlese that will blow anyone away, rather it is harmonious, silky and refreshing.

2004 Kosta Browne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
A more retrained style of Pinot, despite the 15.2% warning on the front label. Cherry cola, earth and a bit of vanilla. Good acidity, and a lingering cherry finish. Nothing heavy or hot here. Very enjoyable. A less massive style California Pinot
