After being mightily impressed by the Glaetzer Godolphin 2004, I decided to check out another Glaetzer-made wine. The Savitar has a dense, deep violet color. First impression on the nose is coffee with oak making an appearance after some time in the glass. The oak does not follow through on the palate. Flavors are of sour cherry and raspberry. The wine is very dry, smoky and concentrated. Full-bodied. The tannins are quite smooth for such a young wine. The acid seems to stand out giving the impression that the wine hasn't realy come together yet. Maybe it needs more time. Finishes long with a burnt edge.

This doesn't have the balance or smoothness of the Godolphin which I much prefer over this. Not my type.
