I am here!!

So this is where all the cool kids have been hanging out!!

Bob P tipped me the wink about the new digs.

I read Robin's intro and I am glad to see that I was not the only one who felt that way about the move to our new home. I found (and still find somewhat today) our new Netscape home to be rather cold and sterile. At first I chalked it up to the fact that it was new and, being a creature of habit, I am uncomfortable with change.

Robin kept saying we should give it time, so I did. However, the "old" site was like a favourite living chair or a worn in pair of slippers: yeah it had problems, but it was comfy.

Am hoping this home will be as comfy.

We're sure working on it, Bruce! Take off your shoes ... eeeeuuuww, wait, belay that ... and stay a while!

Feel free to invite in others ... I'm inclined to let this place run on the basis of "viral marketing" for a while as things shake down and we work out the relationship (if any) between the two forums.

Belay???

Belay is a nautical term only a sailor would use Robin. Don't tell me that you have interests outside of wine.

Who here is not a polymath? To be honest, though, I got that from devouring Horatio Hornblower novels in my misspent youth ...

I'm here too. Glad the forum is back after that rather odd little interlude.

It hasn't exactly been gone, Jamie, but I understand that some folks didn't like the Netscape incarnation. Glad you're here, anyway, and hope you'll settle in and make yourself at home again. We've been sorly lacking for excellent Friday trolls. Heck, start one today! :-D

Hi honey, I'm home.

It's great that you ARE here, Howard. I've always said that it's not the software but the people that really count. But if the software in the new place was going to cause us to lose good people - or even merely see their participation diminish - then that's a problem, a real problem that has to be solved. I hope we can solve it by having complementary, overlapping forums, but whatever needs to be done, we'll do it.

Now, this is more like it.
'Sorry Robin; now you're just going to have to put up with me - again.
Best, Jim

We'll manage to get over it, Jim! 8)

BTW, inquiring minds would like to know about your choice of avatar; any insights?

Naah, not really. Spur of the moment grab of a handy icon when we were setting up. I love to cook and love to cook Italian, and the guy in the image seemed to have the right attitude. I generally change avatars every now and then anyway ...

Just arrived here. The Netscape era did not cause me too many concerns with the interface, but the exodus was getting to be an issue. These new digs seem pretty nice and a lot less fragmented.
I think I'll hang around for a while and see what happens.

Yeah, when we set up the Netscape Forum, I thought the folder system would be a neat way to keep things organized, but I guess "organized" was too much of a leap from the chaotic old WLDG. :) So when we set up this one, I figured we'd just start with one huge, happy WLDG and one equally amiable FLDG. We can always split off special-interest forums later if there's a call for it.

I think I'll hang around for a while and see what happens.

Good!

Bruce, I am with you. I feel comfortable already. I hated the Netscape software. Slow and clunky. As someone else said, too much effort. Even without the theading issue I can handle this - just a matter of quoting the text - or part of the text - that you are replying to.

Cheers,
Sue

I haven't been much of a presence on any of the forums for several months -- a pesky day job and a 56K connection at home -- but this is a welcome development, I hope it takes off, and I'll try to be around to contribute. Welcome back, WLDG! And thanks, Robin.

Great, Patchen! I sure hope so. We've missed you ... and look forward to yakking again about wine and other things. I hope your busy-ness has been interesting at least!

Thanks, Madame! Glad to see that you (and I assume Geo) have found your way here. Heard any rumblings about MoCool this year? It's getting ominously into the season again ...
