Offline in New York on May 1st?

Hello,

I posted this in the offlines forum but I'm not sure everyone has a chance to see it. I know Jay Miller said that he would try to work on organizing something for May 1st.

I'll be in New York City on April 30th and May 1st. It's my first time in New York (I usually just fly through en route to the West Coast). I know some people from the Forum on the West Coast but nobody from New York. Would anybody care for an offline on May 1st?

Thanks! I look forward to meeting some of you!

Cheers, Eve

Eve, I'm doing my best to clear up a conflict, and will revert as soon as possible.

I assume we will only drink Red wine?

Or kill a White or two?

Regards, Bob

First time in Nyc? Enjoy. Early May is a gorgeous time. I'll be there three weeks later, so alas, I guess we'll miss each other..

But, enjoy CA, that is also a gorgeous place as you know..

Hello, Bob

I don't know at that point what we'll drink. I wait to hear more from Jay who very kindly is working on the event.
Best, Eve

The more publicity the better.

I don't think we'll need a theme given what is shaping up to be a very small dinner [Edit - shows you what I know].

We've picked up a third person!

Keith Levenberg says he can probably make it.

It now looks like

Eve Lejeune
Jay Miller
Manuel Camblor
Tony Fletcher
Keith Levenberg
Dave Bekhor
Mike Bassman
Marty L
and possibly Bob Ross

Time will be 7:30pm on Monday, May 1.

I was thinking either Inside or AOC Bedford for the location.

Tony... Fletcher? Fletcher is in? Unbelievable!

So, now that we have a quorum, how about that theme?

Oh, and hello Eve. Looking forward to meeting you.

Theme, theme, I have heard tell of these themes of which you speak.

Eve - I'm not really familiar with what wines you like. Is there any region or style in particular that you're fond of? Or shall we just go for an unthemed event as in the ancient days before fools sought to impose order on the primal chaos that was?

I'd like to try AOC Bedford, I hear it's quite nice. Not that I have any issue with Inside.

FYI, this is my first venture back on the boards in a while, and things seem to have, uh, changes. WLDG is retire and points at a set of pages on netscape. This set of pages is different, yet confusingly named the same thing as the netscape pages. Would anybody clarify?

Also, re theme. So long I can bring a good red and a sauternes, I'll be happy.

Welcome, Mike -- it's great to see your name again -- and I hope to be able to attend the May Day festivities.

Bob,

Do you know yet if you will be joining us? I'd like to make the reservation and I really need to know how many to make it for.

Jay, you better assume I won't make it. Make the reservation and if you have a cancellation from someone, let me know -- my schedule may free up, but I won't know til late last week.

Regards, Bob

If I remember correctly she has a particular fondness for super high acid monocepage northern whites, so bring all the "off-vintage" Muscadet you can gather, and remind her that Rahsaan was looking out for her :)

Hey, Mike, LONG time no see! The link that Bob gave you tells the shorter version ... I'll be glad to take additional questions if you've got 'em.

In honor of May Day perhaps we should all bring Georgian wines. Now that Russia is banning them we should support the industry.

Hello Jay,

Sorry I didn't answer your post any sooner. I do like red wines. Of course since I'm coming to the States I do love to taste good American wines - and you do have a lot. As far as a theme is concerned I'd rather stay in chaos like in the good old days! I'm open to any suggestions, locations and ideas. I'll bring a bottle of a French wine - maybe an unusual wine from the South (irouléguy or Provence). How does it sound?
Have a nice week. Best, Eve

And I do remember as well, cher Rahsaan, that you like strong and heavy wines from Bordeaux :D .

See you in California this summer? Best Eve

We always save our Pavie and Monbousquet for Rahsaan.
