by TomHill » Thu Apr 11, 2024 1:23 pm

We had these three at our new TablasCreek tasting last week at Pig+Fig:
1. TablasCreekVnyds LeComplice AdelaidaDist/PasoRobles (13.5%; 59% w-c Syrah/32% Grenache/8% TerretNoir/1% Muscardin; EB; 882 cs) 2021: Dark color; strong spicy/blackberry/Syrah biy peppery/whole-cluster light toasty/oak some Rhonish/peppery fairly complex very attractive nose; lightly tart fairly rich/lush strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy some peppery/w-c/Rhonish light toasty/oak fairly balanced bit complex lovely flavor w/ light brisk tannins; very long/lingering finish that follows flavor; a fairly big but balanced Syrah that shows lots of w-c/Rhonish character and needs 3-8 yrs of age. $60.00/$48.00 (VIN)

2. TablasCreekVnyds EnGoblet EB/AdelaidaDist/PasoRobles (14.1%; 36% Grenache/28% Mourv/27% Syrah/6% Counoise/3% Tannat) 2018: Dark color; bit earthy strong Grenache/strawberry/spicy/bright light pencilly/oak bit dusty lovely nose; fairly tart/tangy strong blackberry/strawberry/Grenache/spicy/bit floral light pencilly/oak slight earthy/dusty fairly big/stout/structured flavor w/ modest brisk tannins; very long/lingering strong Grenache finish that mimics flavor; a pretty serious expression of Grenache that needs 3-6 yrs of age. $44.00 (VIN)/$55.00

3. TablasCreekVnyds Panoplie AdelaidaDist/PasoRobles (13.5%; top 3% of that vintage's wine; 54% Mourv/24% Grenache/22% Syrah; EB ) 2021: Dark color; very strong/intense plummy/Mourv/bit licorice/ripe/big fruit some toasty/oak rather perfumed fairly complex lovely perfumed nose; lightly tart/tangy very strong/intense/plummy/Mourv light pencilly/oak slight CdP-like/earthy very balanced/complex lovely flavor w/ modest chewy tannins; very long/lingering intense Mourv finish that follows flavor; a lovely fairly intense Mourv red that shows a slight CdP character; beautiful red. $105.00/$84.00 (VIN)

More gistterfrick from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I liked all three of these reds quite a lot. Thought the Panoplie the best because of its greater intensity & complexity. But I'm not so sure it's worth the extra tarrif over the Esprit de Tablas Rouge. I've not tasted enough older Panoplies to know if the additional tarrif makes them worth collecting.

Interesting. So many variations on a theme.
