This was my wine for DinDin last night:
1. Carlisle TheDerivative f'(x) SonomaCnty WW (14.1%; 85% Semillon/15% Muscadelle; 200 cs) CarlisleWines/Windsor 2021: Light gold color; strong waxy/figgy/Sem/green olive/spicy light pencilly/oak some complex lovely nose; lightly tart rather rich strong Sem/figgy/fig newton/waxy light pencilly/oak some complex flavor; very long/lingering waxy finish that follows flavor; showing some HunterVlly Semillon character w/o the oak & bracing acidity; developing quite nicely & should continue over the next 4-8 yrs.

1. The Derivative is a tribute to Mike's mathematical background from Claremont College. He also makes a red wine blend he calls TheIntegral from time to time. Continuing the mathematical theme, he also make a very rare rose called Fibonacci. It is made from GrandNoir, only a limited few cases a year (0/1/1/2/3/5/8), and all goes to his LosAlamos customers who have followed him from the very start and appreciate such esoteric wines.
As I recall, the Semillon for this wine came from MonteRossoVnyd, about the oldest Semillon planting in Calif. It is evolving quite nicely into a lovely Semillon. Semillon is one of the real underappreciated grapes in Calif.
