WTN: Cote du Rhone........NOT!

by Jim Grow » Sun Mar 31, 2024 10:49 pm

I opened my first of six 2020 Clos du St. Jean V.V. CdP knowing it was very young but I wanted to know when I should open the next bottle. As it turned out that would be tomorrow ! This wine was so smooth and with such simple Rhonish flavors that I was shocked.
I will not attempt to be credited for my remaining bottles as it is an enjoyable quaff but I will avoid Clos St.Jean in the future. I really doubt that 10 more years will give it the complexity I am looking for. FYI

My limited experiences with 2020 shows it to be a glossier vintage (and I have read similar reports from others), so I don't necessarily think it's Clos St. Jean that's the issue.
