WTN: Three Old/Older Calif Rhones...(short/boring)

Was batting 1/3 last night on Dinner wine:
1. Betz Family LaCoteRousse Syrah RedMtn (14.8%; www.BetzFamilyWinery.com) Redmond/WA 2005: Dark color w/ some bricking; rather earthy/dusty slight funky/musty/dishwater that clears slight WAState Syrah/plummy rather unattractive nose w/ little fruit; soft bit tangy/metallic rather earthy/dusty slight plummy/WAState Syrah bit dishwater/funky flavor w/ modest bitey tannins; med.long finish mimics flavor; not oxidized or over-the-hill but just has not evolved into anything of interest and a real paucity of fruit.

2. Hearthstone 60% Grenache/40% Syrah PasoRobles (14.8%; www.HearthstoneVineyard.com) HearthstoneWnry/SantaMaria 2003: Med.dark w/ considerable bricking; rather earthy/dusty/musty/Kansas attic slight jammy/Grenache rather tired/dried out little fruit nose; soft/fat no fruit very metallic/tangy quite dried-out flavor w/ light metallic tannins; pretty tired/dried-out red that's dead & gone. $27.00 (LA)

3. CedarvilleVnyd {Syrah} ElDorado (15.1%; EB; 125 cs; www.CedarvilleVineyard.com) FairPlay/ElDorado 2017 : Very dark color; strong very spicy/blackberry/Syrah/bit peppery strong Am.oak/vanilla some complex fairly ElD/earthy/mushroomy/truffle/pungent lovely nose; lightly tart fairly rich/tangy strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy some earthy/ElD/mushroomy/truffly strong vanilla/Am.oak bit complex flavor w/ modest smooth tannins; very long strong blackberry/Syrah/earthy/mushroomy strong vanilla/Am.oak finish w/ modest gentle tannins; speaks strongly of ElD Cnty Syrah w/ ample Am.oak; probably nearing its peak. $27.00

More fibblesnatch from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Hearthstone is no longer an operating wnry. The vnyd still exists and wine is made under the Kiamie label. Never have tried their wines.

I have hit or miss results with Betz wines. Seems odd, as the standard of winemaking is quite high.
