I don't know how mamy folks out there have tried to search these fora for tasting notes using our old standard keyword, "TN", but it doesn't work with this new forum software. It seems that you need at least three alphabetic characters in your search string for it to work.

Maybe it's possible to tweak the software to allow search for two-character strings. Maybe not.

I think instead we should work around the problem by adopting a slightly longer acronym for "tasting note".

I suggest we use "WTN" (wine tasting note) instead of "TN" in the future.

Bill, if you use WTN: here, can one find the tasting note:

1. On this iteration of WLDG's software.

2. By searching with TN: on Wine Lovers Page.

I'd check it out myself, but I've promised myself not to get into the technology -- just drinking and enjoying wine for awhile.

[I'll post a TN: on WLP using the WTN: convention; we'll be able to check for retrievability tomorrow.]

I've double checked my notes, Bill. In order to get tasting notes into the WLP database, the first three characters in the subject line have to be TN: as the database is presently configured.

If you change the first three characters here to WTN:, and you later want to copy the tasting notes into the WLP database (absent reprogramming) it will be necessary to either convert the WTN: to TN: manually or by some sort of program before entering.

It's not very elegant, but the best way to insure finding tasting notes here and make it relatively easy to enter them into the WLP database would be to continue to use TN: in the Subject box. Then add WTN in the text, assuming this software will find WTN in the text.

This forum software WILL find WTN in the text. That sounds like the way to go. Thanks, Bob, for that refinement of the idea.
