Quinta Vale Donna Maria Porto

No one (except RH) wants to drink vintage Port every day. The cost and weight of the wine militate against it.

There are alternatives - white Port, tawny, LBV...and here is another one.

The Quinta Vale Donna Maria Sarzedinho Reserve Port Lot 01 (bottled 2003) is trodden on traditional lagars, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and not kept on wood for any prolonged time, so it is a bit closer to a vintage in style, yet less expensive. I was quite taken with it - not too sweet, very dark, with good length.

I would be interested in Roy's read on this, if he has tried it. (Any post on Port sets his radar going so I expect he'll pipe up sooner or later).

I could see myself buying some of this every year and actually using it, while my vintage Port sleeps on under stacks of cases of younger wines.
