WTN: Domaine Carneros "Avant Garde" Pinot Noir 2004

Napa.

A soft nose, with spice, cherry fruit and smoke.

Light-weight, tangy, slightly creamy texture, light cherry fruit, not showing much at first.

With time, the wine took on added weight and complexity, turning quite thick and creamy in the mouth, with red licorice and a hint of chocolate.

On the downside, the wine displayed a dirty-bitter streak pretty much throughout the entire bottle, which detracted from the overall impression.

Purchased at $25.95 (Canadian). I would not buy again.
