SacBee: Dunne on Angelica

Mike Dunne has a very interesting article in the SacBee on Angelica:
SacBee:Angelica

Angelica is traditionally made but taking fresh-pressed juice from Mission grapes, adding grape spirits to bring it up to 18% or more alcohol...and then letting it age. It can age forever. I've had maybe a dozen Angelicas over the yrs and they can be incredible. It's a genre that should be pursued more. Glad to see that MarcoCappelli is doing it right. DeborahHall's GypsyCanyon Angelica ($150/hlf), made from abandoned Mission vines she found buried away on a hillside on her property and probably planted by the original Spanish padres when they came up the Coast, is exceptional stuff. Most of these ancient Mission vines are up in AmadorCnty, notably at the DeaverVnyd and the Rinaldo (nee Eschen) Vnyd.

Anyway...a good read by Mike.

I enjoyed that article a lot as well, and it's good to see at least a little attention directed towards Angelica. I'd love to see more of that out on the market.

Thanks for the article, Tom. Angelica is something that I've always wanted to try because of its history.
