WTN: Multier CdR Syrah '88...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Aug 18, 2014 8:46 pm

We tried this on Fri night:
1. J.Y.Multier AC: Cotes du Rhone Cepage Syrah (MeBaC; 11.5%) Condrieu 1988: Med.color w/ little bricking; very strong smokey/roasted/coffee/espresso/ozone classic NR/pungent slight blackberry/Syrah quite complex beautiful nose; fairly tart some tangy/metallic strong roasted/NR/smokey/espresso/coffee/pencilly beautiful NorthernRhone complex flavor w/ light/hard/astringent tannins; very long classic NR/roasted/smokey/smoked meats/bacony/espresso/pungent slight blackberry/Syrah/tangy/metallic complex finish w/ light/lean/astringent tannins; beautiful classic NR character w/ not much fruit but somewhat pinched/lean/drying out on the palate; who'd have thunk...a 26 yr old basic CdR in this good a shape.
$10.00

1. This wnry was established in 1978 by PaulMultier. His Ch. du Rozay Condrieu had always been one of my favorite Condrieus. Alas, I haven't seen this wnry in yrs and can't tell if they're still imported are still in biz or not.
