2002 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese **** - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (6/28/2014)
This is deep into Beerenauslese territory. Brown sugar, tropical fruits, macerated strawberries, cinnamon spice and any of a 100 other things are there on the nose and the palate. The richness is there from first sip through mid palate and all the way to the spicy, electric finish. The sweetness and acidity complement each other, with a building effect, as the intensity of flavor increases from sip to sip. Is there a touch of Eiswein in there? It sure tastes like it. Amazing wine. My wine of the year so far in 2014.
