WTN: 2009 Rhys Alpine Vineyard Chardonnay

2009 Rhys Chardonnay Alpine Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (5/28/2014)
My second, and last bottle of this wine, and a showing that suited my taste much more than my other bottle. In 2012 I found the wine a bit heavy, whereas tonight it was (and still is) much fresher. There is a good core of acidity, and the tropical fruit tones are complemented, rather than overwhelmed by a touch of spicy oak. I do get a bit of alcohol on the finish, but not so much as to be unpleasant. My favorite part is the lingering finish. Very nicely done.
