WTN: Foppiano Petite Sirah '01 "Reserve"

by John Treder » Sat Mar 15, 2014 10:43 pm

I had this tonight with Canevari's ravioli, which is about the second best I've ever had. The maker of the best went out of business some years ago.
Still very young. Dark velvet color, dark ruby at the edges. Lots of primary fruit and primary tannin. Very well balanced and a nice lingering berry aftertaste. If I had more, it would go 10 or 20 more years. It's the reason why I like Petite Sirah.
Details: $27 at the winery in 4/09; 14.5% alcohol

Canevari's ravioli was the best that I had ever had. You introduced me to it. :)

A good excuse to pass through Santa Rosa occasionally!
