Trying to get my palate tuned up for this Friday's ripasso tasting, I bought and opened one of these. I've had Zenato in the past but not recently. Popped and poured, it initially showed severe extract and parchy blue-black fruit flavors, too much so for pleasant drinking. We set the glasses aside and poured ourselves some white to go with dinner. But after an hour or so of air, the ripasso had relaxed nicely, rounding out with some red fruit and nice spice, albeit in a polished-modern way.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
